Perfect Two: Auburn

You can be the peanut butter to my jelly
You can be the butterflies I feel in my belly
You can be the captain
And I can be your first mate
You can be the chills that I feel on our first date
You can be the hero
And I can be your side kick
You can be the tear
That I cry if we ever split
You can be the rain from the cloud when it's stormin'
Or u can be the sun when it shines in the mornin'

Don't know if I could ever be
Without you 'cause boy you complete me
And in time I know that we'll both see
That we're all we need
Cause you're the apple to my pie
You're the straw to my berry
You're the smoke to my high
And you're the one I wanna marry

Cause you're the one for me (for me)
And I'm the one for you (for you)
You take the both of us (of us)
And we're the perfect two
We're the perfect two
We're the perfect two
Baby me and you
We're the perfect two
[ Lyrics from: http://www.lyricsmode.com/lyrics/a/auburn/perfect_two.html ]
You can be the prince and I can be your princess
You can be the sweet tooth I can be the dentist
You can be the shoes and I can be the laces
You can be the heart that I spill on the pages
You can be the vodka and I can be the chaser
You can be the pencil and I can be the paper
You can be as cold as the winter weather
But I don't care as long as were together

Don't know if I could ever be
Without you 'cause boy you complete me
And in time I know that we'll both see
That we're all we need
Cause you're the apple to my pie
You're the straw to my berry
You're the smoke to my high
And you're the one I wanna marry

Cause your the one for me (for me)
And I'm the one for you (for you)
You take the both of us (of us)
And we're the perfect two
We're the perfect two
We're the perfect two
Baby me and you
We're the perfect two

You know that I'll never doubt ya
And you know that I think about ya
And you know I can't live without ya
I love the way that you smile
And maybe in just a while
I can see me walk down the aisle

Cause you're the apple to my pie
You're the straw to my berry
You're the smoke to my high
And you're the one I wanna marry
Hook
Cause your the one for me (for me)
And I'm the one for you (for u)
U take the both of us (of us)
And were the perfect two
Were the perfect two
Were the perfect two
Baby me and you
We're the perfect two(yeah, yeah)

Homework for this weeeekkkk

Milton Glaser on using design to make ideas new:

He was asked to do paintings to celebrate the life of Piero Della Francesca and this led him to a whole new way of thinking, comparing looking at these paintings as nature. A way of observation to analyze a piece and be able to look at it in a different way and take liberty to change something about them. I thought it was interesting the way he spoke of looking differently at the piece thinking of it in an entirely different way, recreating it without it fully losing its originally meaning but giving it slightly different context.

“I never understood the conflict between abstraction and naturalism...since all paintings are inherently abstract to begin with....there doesn't seem to be an argument there.”

He then went on to speak of how we read things and how we are persuaded by what we know, like the word “reliable” and what follows after. It got me thinking of what do we know as genuinely reliable and is someone going to convince us otherwise if we already believe something is unreliable? Posters deal with deciding what they say and how they say it to convince the viewer of their point.

He deals with the norms of posters and pushing those boundaries. A poster is not meant to be explained, but he says maybe that is not true. SO he went on to deal with simple posters but then giving a tiny explanation, revealing his thought process and therefore willingly exposing himself. He goes on to see if a poster really has to be square and rectangle and pushes that idea. And continues to what is art and making posters that reveal that accompanied by a literature in case the viewer doesn’t get it, which i think is great.

He actually is very interesting, funny and welcoming. He brought up many good points.

David Carson on design and discovery:

“Great design is a never-ending journey of discovery...”

“Im a big believer in the emotion of design and the message that is sent before someone begins to read....”

  • Design has gotten much simpler in recent years, getting to the point of being so simple that it is slightly turning back to how it was before.
  • Just because something legible doesn't mean it communicates the right thing, there are other factors that go into it.
  • I loved how his pieces and pieces he showed push the idea of text overlaying an image. I feel those sometimes are the most powerful.
  • He showed how big magazines deal with big issues, for example 911 in Time and People magazine and how they didn't deal with the space well and that gave a very negative impact. The images were so contrasting.
  • His found images were for the most part really compelling and his sense of humor is engaging. I actually really enjoyed this video.
  • The thing he said that stood out to me the most was, “You have to utilize who you are through your work....no one else can do that.” so true!

The Girl: City and Colour

I wish I could do better by you,
'cause that's what you deserve
You sacrifice so much of your life
In order for this to work.

While I'm off chasing my own dreams
Sailing around the world
Please know that I'm yours to keep
My beautiful girl

When you cry a piece of my heart dies
Knowing that I may have been the cause
If you were to leave
Fulfill someone else's dreams
I think I might totally be lost
You don't ask for no diamond rings no delicate string of pearls
That's why I wrote this song to sing
My beautiful girl

ooooo ooo ohhh ohh oh oh

One, two, one two three four
I wish I could do better by you
'cause it's what you deserve
You sacrifice so much of your life
in order for this to work

While I'm off chasing my own dreams (my own dreams)
sailing around the world ('round the world)
Please know that I'm yours to keep
My beautiful girl

And when you cry a piece of my heart dies
Knowing that I may have been the cause
If you were to leave and fulfill someone else's dreams
I think I might totally be lost

But you don't ask for no diamond rings (Diamond rings)
No delicate string of pearls (String of pearls)
That's why I wrote this song to sing
My beautiful girl

ooooo ooo ohhh ohh oh oh
ooooo ooo ohhh ohh oh oh
ooooo ooo ohhh ohh oh oh
ooooo ooo ohhh ohh oh oh

But you don't ask for no diamond rings (Diamond rings)
No delicate string of pearls (String of Pearls)
That's why I wrote this song to sing
My beautiful girl.

Michelle Branch: Crazy Ride

Goodnight big moon
Sweet dreams baby
If i could have one wish tonight,
it would be that
You'll always keep, keep the starlight in your eyes

One day you'll grow up
One day you'll walk out
in this big world on your own
And they'll be days that your heart will break and
You'll swear that all your strength is gone

Then you'll find a way to carry on

Heaven knows that its a crazy ride
It's never perfect all the time, it will pull you down
And send you flyin', so baby hold on tight
On this crazy ride

So don't be scared when
Your in the darkness, and the sun is swallowed by the ground
You'll think its gone but its hanging on
Its just on the other side of town.

Even when its lost, it can be found

Heaven knows that its a crazy ride
Its never perfect all the time
It will pull you down and send you flyin'
So baby hold on tight,
On this crazy ride

oh, oh, oh, ohhhhh

Heaven knows that its a crazy ride
Its never perfect all the time
You know it's just a crazy ride,
Its never perfect all the time
It will pull you down and send you flyin', so baby
Hold on tight, on this crazy ride

Goodnight big moon,
Sweet dreams baby

Brett Dennen: Ain't no Reason

There ain’t no reason things are this way.
Its how they always been and they intend to stay.
I can't explain why we live this way, we do it everyday.
Preachers on the podium speakin’ of saints in seance,
Prophets on the sidewalk beggin’ for change,
Old ladies laughing from the fire escape, cursing my name.
I got a basket full of lemons and they all taste the same,
A window and a pigeon with a broken wing,
You can spend your whole life workin’ for something
Just to have it taken away.
People walk around pushing back their debts,
Wearing pay checks like necklaces and bracelets,
Talking ‘bout nothing, not thinking ‘bout death,
Every little heartbeat, every little breath.
People walk a tight rope on a razors edge
Carrying their hurt and hatred and weapons.
It could be a bomb or a bullet or a pen
Or a thought or a word or a sentence.

There Ain't no reason things are this way.
It's how they always been and they intend to stay
I don’t know why I say the things I say, but I say them anyway.
But love will come set me free
Love will come set me free,I do believe
Love will come set me free, I know it will
Love will come set me free, yes.

Prison walls still standing tall,
Some things never change at all.
Find More lyrics at www.sweetslyrics.com
Keep on buildin’ prisons, gonna fill them all,
Keep on buildin’ bombs, gonna drop them all.
Working your fingers bear to the bone,
Breaking your back, make you sell your soul.
Like a lung that’s filled with coal, suffocatin’ slow.
The wind blows wild and I may move,
The politicians lie and I am not fooled.
You don't need no reason or a three piece suit to argue the truth.
The air on my skin and the world under my toes,
Slavery stitched into the fabric of my clothes,
Chaos and commotion wherever I go, love I try to follow.

Love will come set me free
Love will come set me free, I do believe
Love will come set me free, I know it will
Love will come set me free, yes.

There ain't no reason things are this way
It’s how they always been and they intend to stay
I can't explain why we live this way, we do it everyday.

Manufacturing Consent

He speaks about war being covered in the news which is obviously a controversial topic because it is suppose to present it in an accurate way with possibility of peace negotiations. But he believes 99.9 % of the time that is not the case. He says of how people don’t want a war unless it is absolutely necessary but in the case of our history the media portrayed that we had to have one.

I found it interesting his explanation of the reason behind some stories, that are meant to divert the attention of the viewer/reader from things that matter, and therefore reduces our capacity to think (sports, random stories, etc)

I feel one of his quotes that sums up his whole idea is this,
"At this stage of history, one of two things is possible: Either the general population will take control of its own destiny and will concern itself with community interests guided by values of solidarity and sympathy and concern for others, or alternatively there will be no destiny to control.”

Although a lot of his points were somewhat extreme he brought up very good ideas and made me think more of media influence and how with a lot of things portrayed I just assume it is correct because the media is saying it. With all that said, I still believe there are people accurately speaking on what is going on, it's just some things do need to be analyzed a little bit more. Kind of scary how our world has been so shaped from the media, been built upon what our leaders have said and how most of us just take that as truth. Also, in line with the research I am doing on wiki leaks, the media decides what we get to hear and see which i think is a problem. Certain things we deserve to know but also there are things I think we don’t need to know. I really don’t agree with how he says sports is a diversion, I believe there is a form of entertainment that is ok, obviously in balance with familiarity of what is going on in the world as well. But I do see what problem he is talking about. Seeing my generation, rarely does a person my age care that much about news because we have been so distracted by other things, and that is definitely a problem. In conclusion, this was an eye opening video and brought to surface many things i had not previously thought about.

Adele: Rolling in the Deep

There's a fire starting in my heart,
Reaching a fever pitch and it's bringing me out the dark
Finally, I can see you crystal clear.
Go ahead and sell me out and I'll lay your ship there.
See how I leave, with every piece of you
Don't underestimate the things that I will do.
There's a fire starting in my heart,
Reaching a fever pitch and it's bringing me out the dark
The scars of your love, remind me of us.
They keep me thinking that we almost had it all
The scars of your love, they leave me breathless
I can't help feeling...
We could have had it all... (you're gonna wish you, never had met me)...
Rolling in the Deep (Tears are gonna fall, rolling in the deep)
Your had my heart... (you're gonna wish you)... and soul in your hand (Never had met me)
And you played it... (Tears are gonna fall)... To the beat (Rolling in the deep)
Baby I have no story to be told,
But I've heard one of you and I'm gonna make your head burn.
Think of me in the depths of your despair.
Making a home down there, it reminds you of the home we shared.
The scars of your love, remind me of us.
They keep me thinking that we almost had it all
The scars of your love, they leave me breathless
I can't help feeling...
We could have had it all... (you're gonna wish you never had met me)... Rolling in the Deep
(Tears are gonna fall, rolling in the deep)
Your had my heart... (you're gonna wish you)... and soul in your hand (Never had met me)
And you played it... (Tears are gonna fall)... To the beat (Rolling in the deep)
Could have had it all
Rolling in the deep.
You had my heart inside of your hand,
But you played it to the beat.
Throw your soul through every open door (Whoa)
Count your blessings to find what you look for (Whoa-uh)
Turn my sorrow into treasured gold (Whoa)
You pay me back in kind and reap just what you sow.
(You're gonna wish you... Never had met me)
We could have had it all (Tears are gonna fall... Rolling in the deep)
We could have had it all yeah ( you're gonna wish you... never had met me)
It all. (Tears are gonna fall)
It all
It all (Rolling in the deep)
We could have had it all (you're gonna wish you, never had met me)
Rolling in the deep (Tears are gonna fall rolling in the deep)
You had my heart inside... (you're gonna wish you)... of your hand (Never had met me)
And you played it... (Tears are gonna fall)... to the beat (Rolling in the deep)
We could have had it all ( you're wish you never had met me)
Rolling in the deep (tears are gonna fall, rolling in the deep)
You had my heart... ( you're gonna wish you)... and soul in your hand (Never had met me)
But you played it
You played it.
You played it.
You played it to the beat.

helium hearts: jason reeves

Over the lights of sunset and vine
We're floating away
From the fortune and fame
And your lips are mine
They're raspberry wine
Your body's a map
I will follow into the sky

Cause what you got
Is all that I want
It's all that I want
And still that's not enough
It's not enough

Cause we're on fire
Walking love's highest
Burning wire
Helium hearts
We're falling skyward
We're never coming down
(No-oh, No-oh, No-oh-oh-oh)
We're so high the city below
Get's small and quiet
Every breath just makes us lighter
We're never coming down
(No-oh, No-oh, No-oh-oh-oh)

The further we go
We're losing our clothes
One shoe at a time
Thrown over the side
Like our fears and doubts
We cast them out
Till nothing is left
And we're standing together now

Cause what we got
Is all that we want
It's all that we want
And that's always enough
Enough for us

Cause we're on fire
Walking love's highest
Burning wire
Helium hearts
We're falling skyward
We're never coming down
(No-oh, No-oh, No-oh-oh-oh)
We're so high the city below
Get's small and quiet
Every breath just makes us lighter
We're never coming down
(No-oh, No-oh, No-oh-oh-oh)

I can't stay, no

We're on fire
Walking love's highest
Burning wire
Helium hearts
We're falling skyward
We're never coming down
(No-oh, No-oh, No-oh-oh-oh)
We're so high the city below
Get's small and quiet
Every breath just makes us lighter
We're never coming down
(No-oh, No-oh, No-oh-oh-oh)

(No-oh, No-oh, No-oh-oh-oh)
(No-oh, No-oh, No-oh-oh-oh)

We're never coming down
(No-oh, No-oh, No-oh-oh-oh)
We're never coming down
(No-oh, No-oh, No-oh-oh-oh)
We're never coming down

(No-oh, No-oh, No-oh-oh-oh)

Jeopardy

So started watching jeopardy tonight...well because i was told to blog about it. I had no idea it would be so crazy. Technology s advancing to mind boggling levels! SO this is what I learned: Three years ago the IBM research facility outside of new york came to jeopardy about an idea. A computer so advanced that it could understand language well enough that it could actually answer questions on its own. The computer faces two of the best jeopardy players in history. One who won 3.2 million dollars (Brad) and (Ken) who was on a winning streak of 72 games. The computers name is Watson but the image displayed during the game is an avatar. It is actually a very large machine located close to the game but not actually present due to the massive size. The unit cannot see or hear and has the ability of 2800 computer tied together. What I assumed the unit did was just search very quickly for the right answer via computer....but it doesn’t. It pieces together clues and key words insanely quickly. Beating the contestants the majority of the time. Also what was interesting was the testing period that the computer had to go through. To prepare for the game he had to play against 100s of jeopardy games. The show was really interesting. Blows my mind to think what technological advances there will be even in the next few years!

Ingrid Michaelson: Far Away

I will live my life as a lobsterman's wife on an island in the blue bay
He will take care of me, he will smell like the sea,
And close to my heart he'll always stay

I will bear three girls all with strawberry curls, little Ella and
Nelly and Faye
While I'm combing their hair, I will catch his warm stare
On our island in the blue bay

Far away far away, I want to go far away
To a new life on a new shore line
Where the water is blue and the people are new
To another island, in another life

There's a boy next to me and he never will be anything but a boy at the bar
And I think he's the tops, he's where everything stops
How I love to love him from afar

When he walks right pass me then I finally see on this bar stool I can't stay
So I'm taking my frown to a far distant town
On an island in the blue bay.
Far away far away, I want to go far away
To a new life on a new shore line
Where the water is blue and the people are new
To another island, in another life

I want to go far away
Away away, I want to go far away, away, away
I want to go far away, far away

Where the water is blue and the people are new
To another life, to another life
To another shoreline, in another life

My City: 1st Project

Todd Carey: Aint Got Love

I got friends
so sweet
to sing to when I'm passing on the street

I got my guitar
to play when I'm down
and a microphone loud enough to rock this town

But it...
all comes down to nothing in the end
when you ain't got love
you ain't got love
But it all amounts to nothing in the end
when you ain't got love
you ain't got love

Well I know
what you see
just another whiney guitar boy in me
and I know
you know my type
but it still don't really change the fact I'm right

That it..
all comes down to nothing in the end
when you ain't got love
you ain't got love
but it all amounts to nothing in the end
when you ain't got love
you ain't got love

I got my ride,
when the road is long
and my mind
is clear and it's strong
and I got my girls
and Ive had my fun
but I still don't have the one....

Cause it...
all comes down to nothing in the end
when you ain't got love
no you ain't got love
But it all amounts to nothing in the end
when you ain't got love
you ain't got love

Garrett Gue: Sugar

Well she feels like sugar in the evening
Sugar in the morning time
And when the sun's shining bright she'll get that feeling
A little more sugar might do just fine
I'm talking ice cream, cinnamon rolls, an oreo shake and a diet coke
'Cus you know you gotta watch your figure
I'm talking brown eyes, a cute little nose, a smile that shines like the summer's snow
If this could happen

But I know it never could
Like I know she would taste so good
Until the flavor fades away

Well she stays up late
And wakes up early
Maybe a strawberry swirly inbetween
'Cus everybody knows that sleep is surely overrated when you're on caffeine

But I think this untrue
Like I think I'm just a fool
And the flavor fades away, fades away
Like a fingerpaint that was left out in the rain
It fades away
Fades away, fades away
Like a happy smile as the clouds chase it away
It fades away, fades away
It fades away

And though it never could
Believe me when I say I would
But I never really figured how to handle goodbyes too good

She fades away, fades away
Fades away, fades away
Like a fleeting thought of peaceful destinations
Fades away
Fades away, fades away
On a westbound train with my hopes and expectations
She fades away, fades away

The Bird and the Bee: How Deep is Your Love

I know your eyes in the morning sun
I feel you touch me in the pouring rain
And the moment that you wander far from me
I want to feel you in my arms again

And you come to me on a summer breeze
Keep me warm in your love and then softly leave
And it's me you need to show

How deep is your love
Is your love
How deep is your love
I really need to learn
'Cause we're living in a world of fools
Breaking us down
They should all just let us be
We belong to you and me

I believe in you
You know the door to my very soul
You're the light in my deepest, darkest hour
You're my savior when I fall
And you may not think
That I care for you
Well, you know down inside
That I really do
And it's me you need to show

How deep is your love
Is your love
How deep is your love
I really need to learn
'Cause we're living in a world of fools
Breaking us down
They should all just let us be
We belong to you and me

Da da da da da
Da da da da da
Da da da
Da da da da da da da da da
Da da da da da

And you come to me on a summer breeze
Keep me warm in your love and then softly leave
And it's me you need to show

How deep is your love
Is your love
How deep is your love
I really need to learn
'Cause we're living in a world of fools
Breaking us down
They should all just let us be
We belong to you and me

How deep is your love
How deep is your love
How deep is your love
How deep is your love

Kina Grannis: Valentine

Just discovered this one and felt this was fitting for the season :)

Love, it's a special day
We should celebrate and appreciate
That you and me found something pretty neat
And I know some say this day is arbitrary

But it's a good excuse that I love to use
Baby, I know what to do
Baby, I will love you
I'll love you, I'll love you

Love, I don't need those things
I don't need no ring
I don't need anything
But you with me
'Cause in your company
I feel happy, oh so happy and complete

And it's a good excuse that I love to use
Baby, I know what to do
Baby, I will love you
I'll love you, I'll love you

Yeah, it's a good excuse that I love to use
Baby, I know what to do
Baby, I will love you
I'll love you, I'll love you

So won't you be my honey bee?
Giving me kisses all the time
Be mine, be my Valentine

So won't you be my honey bee?
Giving me sweet kisses all the time
Be mine, be my Valentine

Ohhh, Oh woah, Be my Valentine

Colbie Caillat: I Do

It's always been about me myself and I
If all relationships were nothing but a waste of time
I never wanted to be anybody's other half
I was happy to say that our love wouldn't last
That was the only way I knew to that you

You make we wanna say
I do, I do, I do, do do do do do do doo
Yeah, I do, I do, I do, do do do do do do doo
Cause every time before we spend like
Maybe yes and maybe no
I can live without it, I can let it go
Ooh, I did, I get myself into
You make we wanna say I do, I do, I do, I do, I do, I do,

Tell me is it only me
Do you feel the same?
You know me well enough to know that I'm not playing games
I promise I won't turn around and I won't let you down
You can trust and never feel it now
Baby there's nothing, there's nothing we can't get through

So can we say
I do, I do, I do, do do do do do do doo
Oh baby, I do, I do, I do, do do do do do do doo
Cause every time before we spend like
Maybe yes and maybe no
I won't live without it, I won't let it go
Wooh Can I get myself into
You make we wanna say

Me a family, a house a family
Ooh, can we be a family?
And when I'm old and sit next to you.

And when we remember when we said
I do, I do, I do, do do do do do do doo
Oh baby, I do, I do, I do, do do do do do do doo
Cause every time before we spend like
Maybe yes and maybe no
I won't live without it, I won't let it go
Just look at what we got ourselves into
You make we wanna say I do, I do, I do, I do, I do, I do,
Love you

RAY LAMONTAGNE: Trouble

Trouble
Been doggin' my soul since the day I was born
Worry
Just will not seem to leave my mind alone

Well I've been saved by a woman
I've been saved by a woman
I've been saved by a woman
She won't let me go
She won't let me go now
She won't let me go
She won't let me go now

Trouble
Feels like every time I get back on my feet
She come around and knock me down again
Worry
Sometimes I swear it feels like this worry is my only friend

Well I've been saved by a woman
I've been saved by a woman
I've been saved by a woman
She won't let me go
She won't let me go now
She won't let me go
She won't let me go now
She good to me now
She gave me love and affection
She good to me now
She gave me love and affection
I said I love her
She's good to me
She's good to me

-She works a lot with film and ballet. “I adore ballet in some ways....but it is a totally ridiculous art form....i love it because it’s pathetic in its way...there’s something beautiful and sad about it.”

Raymond Pettibon:
-He was in college when he was 15!
-Most of his art is actually writing.
-For the most part he has a clean craft and individuality about his work, his texts add so much to his pieces. I think his choice to use ink and the strong contrast of the black and white really aids to his work as well.
I love the mix of words and a visual, so his pieces are very appealing to me.
-Very messsssy studio.
-Eccentric
-In his cartoons he interacts with characters of the past. (like gumbi :) )
-“....i don’t feel constrained by subject matter...I welcome anything into the drawing....I feel work is best when there is no final resolution.”

Elizabeth Murray:
-“....youre mixing up the paint, it’s making something happen with a very, sort of, fluid material that is constantly somewhat out of control...harnessing it somehow...harnesses the energy of the paint...I think that is the primary thing that painting is about. “
-She has cartoony shapes, rounded and inflated. They are stuck on to each other in some wort of way. She desires to make the shapes “live” together
-Uses intense color
-“....My mind letting my arm make the decision...and when you start to get the control then your feelings can start to flow....”
-She uses drawings to get her mind stimulated and to plan out before she does her final pieces.
-She describes the struggle of art in a really good way. How some days you’re so inspired, others you feel like you wanna give up. The ups and downs...

Walton Ford:
-Paints auto-bonds, birds of america, in a historical look but gives it this weird emotion
-Printmaker, paints as well,
-Turns up the irony.
-They give personification to the animals used (birds mainly, monkeys and elephants etc.).

Liar: Mumford and Sons

I know that things are broken
And though there's too many words left unsaid
You say you have spoken
Like the coward I am I hang my head

You lie careless your head on my chest
And don't even look at me looking my best
And all these things I can't describe
You would rather I didn't try

But please don't cry, you liar
Oh please don't cry, you liar
Oh please don't cry, you liar

Oh please don't cry, you liar
Oh please don't cry, you liar
Oh please don't cry, you liar

And you lean in for your last kiss
Who in this world could ask me to resist
Your hands cold as they find my neck
Oh this love that I've found, I detest
