Jeopardy

So started watching jeopardy tonight...well because i was told to blog about it. I had no idea it would be so crazy. Technology s advancing to mind boggling levels! SO this is what I learned: Three years ago the IBM research facility outside of new york came to jeopardy about an idea. A computer so advanced that it could understand language well enough that it could actually answer questions on its own. The computer faces two of the best jeopardy players in history. One who won 3.2 million dollars (Brad) and (Ken) who was on a winning streak of 72 games. The computers name is Watson but the image displayed during the game is an avatar. It is actually a very large machine located close to the game but not actually present due to the massive size. The unit cannot see or hear and has the ability of 2800 computer tied together. What I assumed the unit did was just search very quickly for the right answer via computer....but it doesn’t. It pieces together clues and key words insanely quickly. Beating the contestants the majority of the time. Also what was interesting was the testing period that the computer had to go through. To prepare for the game he had to play against 100s of jeopardy games. The show was really interesting. Blows my mind to think what technological advances there will be even in the next few years!
